Up for a hike that will challenge you with paths of deep sand mixed with graveled and marsh grass? Sandy Neck Trail is the place to go. Just did a six mile hike out through the dunes and marsh area. If youu2019re looking for a sandy hike through dunes and marsh then this is the trail for you. It was an easy trail for me but the dunes and wind can increase it to a more moderate hike. It was windy and cooler today but the views were still gorgeous. It wasnu2019t crowded at all either.
Horseflies and extreme heat on the marsh-side/dunes in the summer, but the landscape is quite fantastic and unique, on the beach side, the dune trails, and the marsh. But the horseflies are aggressive and plentiful, be prepared.
Sandy Neck is my happy place! It's Nirvana! I love being able to have a campfire while camping on the beach!
